Cash boost for Derbyshire countryside
Derbyshire County Council (DCC) has confirmed that a series of initiatives designed to improve the county's rural areas are to share a funding package worth £139,500.
Among the schemes that are in line for a cash injection is the upgrade of a canal towpath and Bluebank Loop at Brimington, which will receive £30,000, while the Peak District National Park Authority will net £20,000 to improve access. The council has also awarded £25,000 to create a fully accessible toilet and changing facility for disabled adults at Shipley Country Park as part of the Changing Places campaign.
DCC strategic director of environment services, Ian Stephenson, said: "This money will help to make lots of improvements throughout Derbyshire. And by providing £139,500 of funding from the council we bring in a further £500,000 from other sources."
