Chapter Arts due to revamp
Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff has submitted plans to the council for a £2.5m redevelopment.
The scheme will include roof and structure repairs, a refurbishment of the existing cinemas, creation of a new space for theatre performances and an extended outdoor area.
Chapter’s director, Janek Alexander, said: “It’s a major investment in the south Wales arts community, made possible by the support we have received from the Arts Council of Wales lottery fund.”
The Welsh Assembly Government has also granted £200,000 towards essential repairs, under its Community Facilities and Activities Programme.
The centre will launch a fundraising campaign in June, and is due to hear whether its application for Heritage Lottery Funding has been successful.
Architects Ash Sakula designed the redevelopment.
