Clemson University in South Carolina, US, has unveiled plans to invest US$50m (£31.4m) in upgrading its sports facilities over the next five years.
The institution's athletic department is proposing to carry out improvements to its facilities for American Football, baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis and golf. Plans to improve its American Football provision include a new US$10m (£6.3m) indoor practice facility and the completion of its WestZone project.
A baseball players' facility will be added to Doug Kingsmore Stadium at a cost of US$5m (£3.1m), while an additional US$5.1m (£3.2m) basketball practice facility is also proposed. Other plans include US$6.1m (£3.8m) worth of renovations to the Riggs Field soccer venue and US$5.1m (£3.2m) of improvements to the university's tennis facilities.
The Larry B Penley Jr. Golf Facility, which is already under construction, is also included as part of Clemson's investment plans. Clemson University athletic director Terry Don Phillips said: "We must develop facilities to allow us to continue to put our student-athletes in an environment where they can become as good as they possibly can be."
