Conran Restaurants renamed D+D London
Conran Restaurants has changed its name to D&D London, following the management buyout last year.
In September 2006, chair Des Gunewardena and managing director David Loewi led a management buyout – supported by Bank of Scotland Corporate – to acquire 49 per cent of Conran Restaurants from Conran Holdings, owned by Terence Conran, for £50m.
Gunewardena said: “The change in ownership and management gives us a platform to demonstrate a fresh start.
“We will be expanding this spring, with the opening of two new restaurants in Japan and a third restaurant – Skylon – at the refurbished Royal Festival Hall in London.”
Loewi added: “D&D London will remain true to our existing philosophy, which focuses on distinct, quality restaurants offering excellent food in well-designed environments. We want to continue to attract high-calibre, passionate individuals who will add to the diversity of the business.”
Conran retains a 51 per cent investment in the business through Conran Holdings. Details: www.conran.com
