Corfe Castle reopened in time for Easter
The National Trust has reopened 90 per cent of Corfe Castle, Dorset, following a major restoration project.
Pippa Russell, visitor services manager at the castle, said: “The first phase of the restoration project has gone very well and visitors are now able to explore the inner sanctum of the castle again and enjoy wonderful views over Purbeck. Only the Keep area itself remains closed.
“Our Easter egg trail will take children into the newly opened top of the castle areas and we hope that, later this spring, visitors will enjoy a close up view of phase two of the conservation work taking place in the Keep itself.”
Phase two, which will begin on receipt of Ancient Schedule Monument Consent, will restore the Keep in time for spring 2008.
