Council approves Saltburn proposals
Plans to spend £212,000 on a two-year repair and maintenance scheme for Saltburn's Foreshore Building in North Yorkshire have been given the go-ahead by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council (RCBC).
The first year of funding will go towards addressing structural, roof and damp problems, while the budget for the second year has been set aside for replacing shutters and improving the property's brickwork. Sheelagh Clarke, RCBC cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, said: "It is absolutely vital that we provide this funding to ensure Saltburn has a building to be proud of.
"A lot of work has already been done in securing our control of the building and we believe its tenants appreciate we are moving forward with purpose." Saltburn’s Foreshore Building incorporates two retail units and the Seaview Restaurant, as well as changing facilities and a shower for surfers and a community room.
