The creative geniuses behind the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man darkride at Universal’s Islands of Adventure park in Orlando, Florida will offer their insights into the creative process behind the iconic attraction.

When it opened in 1999, the ride – which combines 3D projection and other immersive effects with roving vehicles – forever changed indoor, interactive attractions.

The ride took around three years to design and has won multiple awards during its 20+ year lifespan.

Now, the three industry legends – Thierry Coup, Phil Hettema and Scott Trowbridge – who led the creative team will reconvene at the forthcoming IAAPA Expo and share how they conceptualised the breakthrough ride and how they brought it to life.

The trio will take part in the popular Legends Panel at IAAPA Expo, offering delegates the opportunity to hear insights, creative leadership strategies, and "lessons in audacity, creativity and leadership" which attendees can apply to their own work, regardless of their field.

The session will be curated and hosted by another industry legend, Bob Rogers, founder and CEO of BRC Imagination Arts). To read an interview with Bob Rogers, in which he talks about BRC Imagination Arts celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2021, click here for Attractions Management issue 1/2021.

Describing the session – which will take place at 3:30pm on 17 November (the second day of IAAPA Expo) – IAAPA said: "Three of the top creators and masterminds of the original Spider-Man attraction will reunite and share how they have continued to blaze trails for world-class innovation, creative leadership, and success."
