Crieff Hydro plans £100m expansion
Crieff Hydro resort in Perthshire has tabled plans for a £100m expansion of its facilities.
The privately-owned resort's owners have submitted a Proposal of Application Notice to Perth & Kinross Council for a major development at a site located north of the A85 and west of the village of Gilmerton.
The plans include the development of 200 lodges; a 100-bed care home/assisted living centre; a range of leisure facilities, such as a swimming pool and health club; and ancillary retail, café and farm shop.
A spokesperson for the resort said: "Prior to any actual planning application, the process dictates that we undertake a public consultation on any plans by mid November. The purpose of public consultations is to encourage communications and open relationships between developers and communities - making the planning process more open and inclusive - something that we are fully committed to."
Crieff Hydro is one of Scotland's oldest trading companies and is currently managed by fifth generation descendants of Dr Thomas Henry Meikle, who founded the hotel and hydrotherapy resort in 1868.
