Cumbria Tourism launches Lake District Escape Line
Cumbria Tourism launched a new initiative today (27 October) to encourage people to take part in outdoor activities in the Lake District.
The tourism board has created the Lake District Escape Line – where callers can listen to seven inspiring sounds recorded in the Lake District – to encourage people to take part in outdoor activities in a bid to avoid the winter blues. The recordings can also be downloaded.
Eric Robson, chair of Cumbria Tourism, said: “Many people dread the clocks going back but hopefully our Lake District Escape Line will inspire them to think more positively about winter and get outdoors.
“Few of us enjoy getting up or coming home in the dark, so making the most of daylight at the weekend could be important to keep the winter blues at bay.”
Charley Darbishire, an independent record producer of Bright Blue Studios in Ulverston, Cumbria, recorded the sounds for Cumbria Tourism. Details: www.golakes.co.uk
