Darlington FC in "precarious" situation
Administrators have still yet to find a new owner for the beleaguered Darlington Football Club (DFC), after it was revealed that no acceptable offers had been received before the 5 May deadline.
The deadline had been imposed by Brackenbury Clark and Co, which was appointed in February to oversee the running of the League Two outfit, although efforts to secure new investment have so far failed. Dave Clark of the insolvency firm said that a majority of the DFC first team have now left the club as part of efforts to reduce costs, along with the management team and a number of other staff members.
Clark said: "Unfortunately, to date there have been no offers for the club that we are able to accept. We will continue to search for a purchaser for the club while we are able to operate, but the situation is precarious. "I will continue to run the club for as long as I can and honour all events and commitments that have been booked. Until a buyer is found, I cannot say what the future of Darlington Football Club will be, however the situation is very serious and worrying."
