Deadline approaches for Active England funding
The deadline is approaching for local authorities to bid for a share of the £100m Active England fund for sports and recreation projects.
Active England is jointly funded by the New Opportunities Fund and Sport England and was created to improve physical activity levels and sports participation.
However, funding applications must be submitted by 31 March.
Tom Pinnington, senior leisure consultant for Symonds Sport & Leisure Consultancy, said: “Encouraging people to take more exercise is one of the government’s key objectives in reducing levels of obesity in this country and Active England is one of the major elements in that drive."
“The funding, therefore, represents an excellent opportunity for local authorities looking to develop new sports and leisure facilities in the near future – but they have to act soon.”
