London's foreign direct investment agency, Think London, has appointed Brendan Dineen to the newly-created role of director for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Dineen is on secondment from IBM for two years – where he was the UK’s director of marketing – and will be responsible for developing Think London’s investment strategy for 2012 by capitalising on what past host cities have learnt.

Dineen will also develop and oversee the implementation of the programme to use in the London 2012 Games in order to best promote London on an international stage and introduce international companies to Olympics-related business opportunities.

Think London’s chief executive, Michael Charlton, said: “The 2012 Olympic Games present us with a tremendous opportunity to promote London internationally and to attract companies to London, creating new investment and new jobs.

"Our aim is to ensure that these companies remain in the UK long after the Games have ended, and will therefore make a lasting contribution in terms of job creation, bringing economic benefit to London and the UK as a whole.”

Dineen added: “This role poses a fascinating challenge, as the ultimate success of the initiative will be the generation of more investment for London sustainable beyond 2012.” Details: www.thinklondon.com
