'Disappointing' feedback to Manchester plans
Manchester City Council (MCC) has revealed that it received just six responses from a public consultation into plans to develop a new Civic Quarter in the heart of the city.
Proposals for a regeneration framework for the Civic Quarter scheme are due to be put before a meeting of the council's executive today (10 February), despite a "disappointing" lack of feedback from local residents and businesses. Only one objection was received as part of the public consultation exercise, with the owner of the Radisson Edwardian Hotel raising concerns over plans for the development of a 15-storey building to house the Library Theatre and a hotel.
According to a report to go before the executive, "the Civic Quarter is a key area of Manchester's history and its future. It serves as a major gateway to the city core and is defined by 10 Grade I and Grade II*-listed buildings."
