Dooley Planetarium gets upgrade through NASA grant
NASA has teamed up with Dooley Planetarium in Florence, South Carolina, in an effort to develop new and innovative ways to showcase the space agency's work to the public.
Following an US$800,000 (€678,000, £527,000) grant from NASA to the Francis Marion University, the planetarium has undergone a series of renovations to improve technical facilities at the facility.
The NASA grant, created specifically for science centres, planetariums, museums and visitor centres, covers the cost and maintenance of a new planetarium projector and will also fund the operational costs of presentations for a three year period. Other upgrades include the incorporation of a new sound system and an LED lighting system.
