'Duck boat' tour launches in Belfast
A new 'Duck Boat' tour has launched in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which will allow visitors to explore the city from both the land and the water.
The 30ft (9.1m) Hydra Terra vessel, which can accommodate 28 people including two crew members, will take to the River Lagan after tourists are given the chance to view the Titanic shipyards. Departing from Victoria Square on Chichester Street, the 'Splash Tour' will enable visitors to explore a number of city landmarks - including the Grand Opera House, the City Hall and the Crown Bar.
The craft will enter and exit the River Lagan using the Ravenhill Reach Slipway as part of the tour, the first of which launched on 23 April and lasts around one hour. Belfast Splash Tours managing director Andy O'Donovan said: "This unique land and water based tour provides an unrivalled opportunity to showcase Belfast's rich heritage and culture from a new and inspiring perspective."
The new tour has been licensed by Northern Ireland's Department for Social Development (DSD), which has statutory responsibility for designated parts of the river. DSD's Jackie Johnston said: "The new 'Splash Tours' will see Belfast join major cities across the world in providing visitors with the opportunity to experience travel through the city by land and water."
