Dundee’s best come to the Dean Gallery
‘Consider the Lilies’ is a special exhibition at Dean Gallery celebrating the rich diversity of Dundee's 20th century art collection, and represents a rare opportunity to see much loved paintings in a new setting, while refurbishment of the collection’s usual home is carried out.
Many leading artists of the period are featured, including Edward Baird, John Bellany, the Scottish Colourists, Stanley Cursiter, John Duncan, Will Maclean and James McIntosh Patrick.
The title of the exhibition is taken from a painting by Peter Collins and also refers to Dundee's coat of arms, the pot of three lilies symbolising Mary, the City's patron saint.
The exhibition is a National Galleries of Scotland Partnership Exhibition with the McManus Galleries & Museum, Dundee.
It will be at the Dean Gallery from 28 October until 14 January 2007.
The exhibition then tours to The Fleming Collection, London, from 25 January to 5 April 2007.
