SUCCESS STORIES

CHELSEA HANEY - 20, Sales Manager

  Chelsea has been at Watford

Central Leisure Centre forthree years and feels part of the

Everyone Active family.

“I was working in fastfood before I applied for the

apprenticeship, but I’ve alwaysbeen interested in fitness

and was desperate to get intothe industry I loved. Joining

Watford Central was the bestthing that could have happened.

I started as a Fitness

Apprentice, then gainedmy Personal Training Level

3 qualification, and overtime added on courses in

PowerPlate, functionaltraining,

pre- and postnataland

aqua aerobics – I was keen tolearn and absorb as much as I

could. I quickly progressed toassistant fitness manager, then

sales manager. Being presentedwith such great opportunities

brought out my ambitious side!

Everyone Active were sosupportive, helping me progress

and making me feel welcomeas part of the team. Learning

on the job is a fantastic way todevelop as a young person, and

Everyone Active really want tomake you the best you can be.”

BILLY ROSS - 20, Team Leader

Billy is a Team Leader at

Northolt Leisure Centre.

Having always beeninterested in fitness and sport,

but without any qualificationsor experience, an apprenticeship

gave Billy the perfectopportunity to earn and learn.

“I’ve always been keen on

swimming, so the EveryoneActive team helped me to gain

qualifications in lifeguarding,as well as enrolling me onto

a Leisure Operations Level 2course with Lifetime Fitness.

When I successfully completed

my one-year apprenticeship, Imoved into a full-time role.

I’ve been

working herefor over a year,

and I’ve loved every minuteof it! My colleagues have all

supported me in learning aboutthe leisure industry and I’ve

worked very hard to progress.

Th e support I was givenenabled me to move up the

ranks quickly and I waspromoted to team leader aft er

just a few months. Being giventhe opportunity to take on more

responsibility has helped buildmy confidence and become

adept at managing and ensuringthe centre runs smoothly.”

HARRY HURST - 19, Trainee Duty Manager

Harry has worked his way upto Site Safety Assistant. He’s

now training to become a dutymanager, and relishing the

opportunity to learn.

“Sixth Form study wasn’t forme, so when a friend suggested

I try an apprenticeship, Ijumped at the chance.

I’ve always been into sports

and fitness, and am interestedin becoming a personal trainer

and working around the world!

To complete myapprenticeship, I studied

for and passed the NLPQlifeguarding quali cation

and Gym Instructing Level course. I’ve since

progressed to afull time role at

Swan Pool, shadowing seniorstaff to build on my experience.

I really enjoyed the courses

and training Everyone Activeoffers and my colleagues have

been really helpful in teachingme new skills.

I’d encourage anyone

interested in the fitness industryto consider an Everyone

Active apprenticeship, thereare so many opportunities for

continual development andyou can progress quickly and

achieve something significant.”

NICOLE COLLIN - 18, Membership Consultant

 Nicole joined Sunbury Leisure

Centre in October andhas progressed from a Front of

House apprentice to a full timemembership consultant.

“I used to do a lot of sports

at school, and have always beeninterested in learning more

about the fitness industry,so when a front of house

apprenticeship came up atSunbury Leisure Centre I

decided to go for it.

I got a lot of support fromthe Everyone Active team,

including regular meetingswith my line manager and

on-the-job training. I alsocompleted

my CustomerService Level qualification and am now

studying for an NVQ in sales.

Interacting with customersand people on the phone

every day has helped a lot withmy confidence and I moved

into sales in August . I’mnow a full time membership

consultant, which I really enjoy.

I think apprenticeships are agreat introduction to the work

environment and help youngpeople to become more mature,
