Extension for Sportslink
Sportslink has extended the health club at its swimming and leisure centre in Dublin as part of a EUR14m investment in the facility.
The Sportslink facility was established in 1993 with the amalgamation of three major sports groups – the Public Services Sorts and Recreational Complex, the Telecom Eireann Staff Sports Club and the Civil Service Football League – who pooled their resources to provide the best possible sport and recreational facilities for members and their families.
The facilities had previously been open to civil and public servants and Eircom employees, but the gym is now open to everyone who wants to join as an associate member.
The new developments at the facility include a 15,000sq ft swimming hall featuring a 25 metre pool and a leisure pool with two flumes, a wave machine, lazy river and slides, all designed by Burke Kennedy-Doyle architects.
Other features include a village changing area, steam room sauna and tanning units while the gym now also boasts 40 extra pieces of resistance and cardiovascular equipment supplied by Lifefitness.
The development was funded by the sale of surplus land. Details:www.sportslink.ie
