Extension for club development programme
Sport England has announced that the Community Club Development Programme (CCDP) is to be extended for two more years.
The scheme – which is a collaboration between Sport England, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and 16 National Governing Bodies (NGBs) – has funded more than 1,000 projects, more than three times the number which was originally planned.
The aim of the programme is to improve the standard of clubs’ facilities at a grassroots level. To date, £60m of funding has been allocated across the country.
The two-year extension to the project, which was kickstarted in 2002 with £20m from the government’s Capital Modernisation Fund (CMF) and £40m from the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR), will secure a further £40m of investment.
The CCDP will also be opened to three other sports – boxing, golf and squash. Details: www.sportengland.org
