FIA at party conferences
The Fitness Industry Association (FIA) has made its presence felt at three party political conferences.
Andrée Deane, executive chair of the FIA, attended the Liberal Democrat Conference in Brighton on the 21-25 September and the Labour Party Conference in Bournemouth on 28 September to 2 October.
The FIA hosted a dinner at the Labour Party Conference, attended by John Lovering, chair of Fitness First, together with a number of high profile politicians and senior civil servants.
During the conferences, Deane met with a number of MPs to discuss key issues relating to the fitness industry.
The FIA was also represented at the Conservative Party Conference in Blackpool on the 6-9 October. Lord Colin Moynihan, the new shadow sports minister, hosted an evening event at the conference on behalf of the FIA. The party conferences provided the FIA with the opportunity to raise its profile in front of ministers and MPs.
