A leisure centre in Farnworth, Bolton is getting a £1m revamp following a grant of £278,000 from Sport England.
The additional funds will be added to the £700,000 being invested by the Brackley Street leisure centre trust.
The revamp will see the development of a new almost double-size fitness suite and changing rooms. The fitness suite will now house 59 workstations, all of which will be fitted with new equipment.
Work is expected to start in September and will bring the leisure centre in line with the council's other local leisure centres.
