Finsbury sports clubs to take over local facilities
An umbrella group representing community sports clubs will now run the Finsbury Park Track and Gym and local tennis courts under a new agreement with Haringey Council.
Finsbury Park Sports Partnership Limited will now be required to meet specified milestones over the next three years as part of the agreement, before the full 25-year lease is granted.
Milestones include obtaining charitable status for all provision, procuring a tennis operator who will secure £280,000 to fund improvements, attract £500,000 in external funding for the track and gym and secure planning permission for the planned scheme.
Improvements for the facility include floodlights for the tennis courts, refurbishment of the running track and building toilets and a pavilion at the tennis courts.
