Football entrepreneur David Haythornthwaite, wants to build a 32-acre sports development in Fylde
Plans for a sports complex in Lancashire are to be unveiled a year after a similar scheme was vetoed by residents and councillors.
Businessman and AFC Fylde chair, David Haythornthwaite, plans to build a 32-acre sports site near junction three of the M55 between Blackpool and Preston called the Fylde Sports and Science Park.
If plans are approved, the site could create 200 jobs and become home to AFC Fylde.
The site will be a combination of sports facilities, education, retail and warehousing. If plans are approved the site will look to be operational by September 2014.
A proposal by Haythornthwaite was originally made in April 2012 for a similar site to be built in Wrea Green, near Blackpool, but plans were thrown out by Fylde councillors at a majority of 15 to one.
The previous scheme included a 2,500-seater stadium, football and hockey pitches. The location and size of the complex however proved a stumbling block as concerns were raised about the impact it would have on residents.
