Future Jobs scheme to expand in Dundee
The government's Future Jobs initiative is to be expanded in Dundee, Scotland, following an encouraging start to the scheme.
The Future Jobs Fund Sports Development scheme has been running at a number of sports development programmes across the city after funding for the initiative was announced in the 2009 Budget.
Dundee Football Club, Dundee United Football Club and the Scottish Football Association are among the organisations taking part in the project, which aims to get young people into work.
Leader of Dundee City Council, Ken Guild, said: "Our aim is to ensure that the sports development scheme and other programmes being run in the city under the Future Jobs Fund banner create trained and motivated individuals who are prepared for sustainable employment in the future."
The Future Jobs Fund was launched by the central government earlier this year to create employment opportunities for unemployed young people and other disadvantaged groups and is a joint venture between Jobcentre Plus and its partners to provide employment opportunities additional to what is already being delivered in Dundee.
All employment opportunities created through the Future Jobs Fund will be additional to what is already being delivered, have a community benefit, include a training element and consider how to increase participants' likelihood of gaining employment.
The salary, pension and training costs for every person taken on as part of the Future Jobs Fund programme are being met by the Government.
A number of other Future Jobs Fund projects, including an environmental improvement scheme, are being developed in Dundee and will be starting in the next few months.
