Glasgow Quay scheme nears completion
The second phase of development on The Quay leisure complex in Glasgow is nearing completion.
The complex is situated on the south bank of the River Clyde and will include Scotland’s largest casino.
Owned by Northern Ireland-based investor W G Mitchell, the second phase of development covers a total of 123,100sq ft (11,400sq m).
The casino will be owned and operated by London Clubs International (LCI), while the fit out will begin in September.
The work will also include one of Accor Group's Etap-branded hotels, which will boast 165 bedrooms and should be trading by January 2007.
Glasgow-based Harlequin Leisure Group, which operates Indian restaurants, has also recently signed a 25-year lease with the Quay's letting agents, Montagu Evans, to operate 3,060sq ft (285sq m) of restaurant space.
Three other large hospitality groups – ASK, Chiquitos and Nandos – have also signed up for pre-let restaurant space and will begin fit outs within the next two weeks.
The first phase of The Quay was completed in 1996 and comprises 122,900sq ft (11,400sq m) of leisure facilities including an Odeon cinema, a Mecca bingo club, a bowling alley and various restaurants.
