Grand Theatre has positive impact on local tourist economy
New research into the management and operation of the Grand Theatre in Blackpool has shown that the attraction has a total economic impact of £12.2m at a national level and provides £9.8m of tourism revenue to Lancashire on a local level each year.
According to RGA Consulting, the group responsible for the research, the theatre is also responsible for attracting more than 9,000 tourist visits to Blackpool each year.
The research was carried out in order to justify work carried out with grants from Blackpool Council and Arts Council England and also to attract potential new backers.
Commenting on the research, the senior director of RGA Consulting, Max Gaunt, said: “Findings like this can help in making a case for much-needed funding for cash-strapped arts organisations. The Grand is a great theatre, doing wonderful work and is a place that is demonstrably contributing to the community in which it exists.” Details: www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk
