Green light for Slough cultural centre
Plans for the development of a new £17.5m library and cultural centre in Slough, Berkshire, have been given the green light by the local authority.
Slough Borough Council's (SBC) cabinet backed the proposals on 8 April, which will offer a new library service, study classes, arts performances and exhibitions, as well as a café. The new centre is set to contribute towards the Heart of Slough regeneration initiative, which will also include the construction of a new bus station.
SBC leader Rob Anderson said: "With construction of the new bus station imminent and funding secured for major changes to the road layout, the vision for the new central library is another example of investment in Slough's town centre. "The Heart of Slough is all about the overall vision, linking new landmark buildings together while avoiding the mistakes of the past when cars, and not people, were the driving force behind town planning."
