Green light for £37m Redcar scheme
A major multi-million pound regeneration scheme in Redcar, north east England, has been given the green light by the local authority.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's (RCBC) cabinet backed the £36.9m project, which will be carried out in two stages and will include a new leisure centre. The proposed facility will boast a six-lane, 25m swimming pool; a leisure and children's pool; a fitness suite and junior gym; and an eight-court sports hall, as well as performance and dance areas.
RCBC cabinet member for economic development Mark Hannon said: "Redcar has been waiting a long time for these plans to become a reality and I really look forward to work starting next year." "These developments along with the exciting plans for the seafront will help to regenerate the town and put it on the map for all the right reasons."
