Green light for £43m Bournemouth scheme
Revised plans for the £43m overhaul of the Pavilion Gardens site in Bournemouth, Dorset, have received the support of the local authority.
Bournemouth Borough Council (BBC) agreed "broad changes" to the scheme, which had included a casino that has no longer been deemed viable. A multi-screen cinema; restaurants; retail units and an interval court are included in the new-look project, which is being led by developer Osborne Bournemouth.
It is now expected that a full planning application for the development will be considered in the coming months, while approval will also be sought from the Lower Gardens Trust. BBC cabinet member for major projects Ian Lancashire said: "We welcome the decision not to include a casino within this project - the new plans fit much more closely with our aspirations of providing family friendly attractions."
Developer Trevor Osborne added: "We have always been deeply committed to this project and to Bournemouth and are determined to leave a positive and lasting legacy for the town."
