HLF backing for Crawley's new museum

Efforts to establish a new museum in the centre of Crawley, West Sussex, have taken a step forward after the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) backed the proposed development.
A £113,500 grant has been awarded to the Crawley Museum Society as part of a first round pass toward a full HLF grant, which will see the attraction move to a site in the High Street.
Working in partnership with Crawley Borough Council, the society aims to establish a new museum at the Grade II-listed Tree and Tree Annexe.
If the second stage of the funding application is successful, the society will secure £998,500 towards the project. The new museum is scheduled to open in 2013.
