HLF funding bid for Torquay Harbour scheme
Plans to restore historic buildings at Torquay harbour could benefit from Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) support after a bid for a £700,000 grant was submitted.
Torbay Council and Torbay Development Agency (TDA) hope work can start in early 2011 if the application is successful, which aims to help improve the waterfront facade. Work has already been undertaken to overhaul eight buildings with the help of HLF support during the first phase of the scheme, which was carried out in 2005.
Chris Lewis, deputy mayor and cabinet member for regeneration at Torbay Council, said: "Torquay Harbour is one of our heritage gems and has sentimental and historic value for many visitors and residents; therefore we are committed to ensuring it looks its best."
