Haltemprice play area set for revamp
East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) has announced that Haltemprice play area is set to undergo a £200,000 refurbishment as part of a scheme to create a network of 'destination' parks across the county.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families is funding the project, which aims to provide a fully accessible facility for children of all ages to enjoy a creative and challenging play environment. Designs for the revamped site, which include the installation of adventure play equipment are to be put on display at Haltemprice Leisure Centre from 5 June, while a pathfinder project officer will be available to answer questions from local residents on 11 and 12 June.
ERYC portfolio holder for cultural service, housing and public protection, Jane Evison, said: "The council is working to create a network of play-parks which will inspire children to spend more time outdoors and give them the chance to see what their imaginations can come up with when they have first-rate equipment to play on. It is hoped that the scheme will be completed by the end of the school summer holidays.
