Harley Gallery gets £78,000 Lottery grant
The Harley Gallery in North Nottinghamshire has been awarded a National Lottery grant of £78,000 to develop two touring exhibitions.
Arts Council England, East Midlands, awarded the grant for the two exhibitions, both which will go on show in 2011 in Nottinghamshire before embarking on a nationwide tour.
The first will be Nora Fok - A retrospective exhibition, from January 2011 to March 2013, and the other will be From Txt to Texture - contemporary letter forming, from March 2011 to March 2013.
The large-scale exhibition will be devoted to calligraphy and will focus on the ways in which lettering and handwriting are taught, and will investigate the potential for digital letter forming.
Lisa Gee, director of the Harley Gallery, said: "The grants are a tremendous opportunity for us to develop a really exciting pair of exhibitions where the design and the installation works with the exhibitions content to deliver a genuinely engaging experience for visitors.
"We're working hard with out partners and participating artists to come up with innovative exhibitions which go way beyond the traditional craft show, and which develop new audiences for text-based work and contemporary jewellery."
