A boutique strength and conditioning facility aimed at high performance athletes on the Isle of Man has boosted its offering with the addition of a new gym area.

Sports Performance Services (SPS) is the brainchild of personal trainer and UKSCA accredited coach Ben Carling and is aimed at athletes who wish to develop their physical and cognitive performance. The facility is used by youth athletes, team training sessions and athletes that compete for the Isle of Man as well as a small number of professional athletes who reside on the Isle of Man.

All sessions at SPS feature personal training from Carling and are appointment only. Prices vary from £30-35 for an hour of one-on-one PT, or strength and conditioning sessions cost up to £50 for a team training session.

"I wanted to bring a professional, new service to the Isle of Man, for the athletes to benefit from using high level equipment they simply cannot use else-where on the Isle of Man," said Carling.

The latest upgrade came in the form of a new strength and conditioning gym, to complement the already installed Cognitive Development suite. Tasked with the design, supply and fit-out, Absolute Performance introduced a variety of equipment including AP Series flooring tiles, AP Series Evolution Turf, AP Elite Power Racks with branded integrated lifting platforms, Olympic bars and plates, soft plyometric box set, dumbbells, adjustable benches and a Concept II rowing machine.

“The training we offer at SPS gets results and the equipment supplied by AP gives us the perfect tools to keep sessions intense, focused, results driven and varied for our clients,” added Carling.

“We have had incredible feedback from our PT clients and athletes. AP has helped us establish ourselves in a very short period of time, thanks to their experience and high-performance products.”
