Hilton announces Turkish expansion
Hilton Hotels Corporation (HHC) has announced that it will be accelerating its expansion plans for Turkey.
The company said that Turkey was its most successful international development market and that it is set to double the size of its Turkish estate over the next two years, after signing 11 hotel contracts in 10 months.
HHC’s senior vice president of development in Europe & Africa, Patrick Fitzgibbon, said at an event in the country’s capital Istanbul that he anticipates the company will introduce more than 40 hotels in Turkey over the next five years.
“Turkey has always been a special market for Hilton,” said Fitzgibbon. “Having had a presence in the country for over half a century, we are seeing increased demand for quality accommodation throughout the country – not just Istanbul – and we are keen to capture a significant part of that.”
Hilton has signed a strategic development agreement (RDA) with Amplio to develop up to 15 hotels, and has signed management contracts for six Hilton Garden Inns so far. HHC also signed an RDA with the Kosifler Group for 25 new properties, and has signed deals for a further four Hilton Garden Inns.
