Holmes Place expansion continues
Holmes Place is on track to becoming one of Europe's leading health and fitness operators as it continues to enjoy growth in the UK and Continental Europe.
The company reported an increase of 35 per cent in pre-tax profits and a total membership of 228,000, up 38 per cent from last year, in its interim results. Further expansion is planned with six clubs scheduled to open in the UK by the end of 2001, six clubs under construction and two under negotiation in Portugal and the first Holmes Place club in Berlin set to open by the end of this year.
Further afield, the company is in discussions with Bally Total Fitness, the world's largest health and fitness club operator, regarding development in the USA which includes the opening of two clubs in Chicago.
