Holovis unveils new technology in Bollywood Parks project
Holovis is completing a double vehicle immersive tunnel ride for the upcoming Bollywood-themed zone at Dubai Parks and Resorts. The UK-based ride maker is debuting two new technological and design features in this media-based motion simulation attraction.
The ride experience is based on the 2006 action film Don, with Shahrukh Khan playing the eponymous role. The film follows the story of Don as he infiltrates the illegal drug trade in Malaysia. In the ride, guests follow mafia boss Don on a thrilling chase through the streets of Dubai. Holovis has advanced the ride format by introducing upgraded screens that wrap more fully around the vehicle for increased immersion, while the use of two 30-seat motion vehicles allows a better viewing experience from each seat. Sound has also been improved, thanks to onboard delivery through Holovis HiFiniti spatial audio.
“We have taken our existing ride solutions and developed them further to deliver one of the most realistic, virtual storytelling experiences,” said Holovis CEO Stuart Hetherington. “This ultimate level of immersion creates a thrilling and class-defining attraction.” “The design and optimum performance of these attractions has also been extensively simulated and tested using RideView, Holovis’s proprietary immersive design platform which brings the whole attraction to life in our 1:1 scale VR CAVE environments,” Hetherington said.
“This unique capability allows real-time volumetric 3D exploration, simulation and review by the team and client, ensuring the highest impact for lowest risk, with every element integrated and working correctly to deliver the required experience, long before the physical build and on-site work commences.” Canadian company Triotech has also recently announced its involvement in Bollywood Park, where it’s building a dark ride based on the film Sholay.
