Hospitality advised to go green
Renewable energy specialist Stiebel Eltron is launching an advice service on how companies within the hospitality sector can save money by investing in green energy.
A free energy efficiency survey will examine the heat loss and heat demands of the building and recommend how to cut costs and energy bills.
"There is a misconception that installing green energy products is expensive," said UK managing director Mark McManus.
"However it is vital the hospitality industry realise that going green and becoming energy efficient during the recession can actually save cash.
"Renewable energy heating products can pay for themselves within a matter of years of being installed. Moreover, because renewable energy use no fossil fuels, this means hospitality companies are not at the mercy of soaring oil and gas prices."
In addition, each hospitality company will be given advice on the various tax breaks and grants in existence to help them meet the initial costs of going green.
The Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme permits companies to put the capital cost of their investment in green-friendly technologies against their taxable profits and other grant schemes pay for up to half the cost of buying renewable products, while VAT on renewable energy products is just 5pc.
