Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL) is once again leading the way in providing local opportunities to be fit and healthy by giving Huddersfield its first, quality, low cost gym.

Due to open in May 2012, SMART Fitness will be Huddersfield's first no frills gym and will be a positive and very accessible leisure development for the town with a monthly fee of only £14.95 for gym only membership.

Situated in Huddersfield Sports Centre, SMART Fitness will appeal to those gym customers who want to 'train and go'.

The concept is simple: the customer can sign up online; is given a brief induction; and away they go!

Alasdair Brown, Kirklees Active Leisure Chief Executive commented: "The current gym at the Sports Centre has become hugely popular in the last few years and KAL has been looking to develop a new approach that will both keep current customers active and happy, while also attracting in new people to make use of the extended gym, at a very affordable price."

Whilst SMART Fitness offers a lower cost option to the standard, high quality, full KAL gym membership the quality of the equipment and facilities will not be affected.

The gym will be fitted with top quality Technogym equipment, with the 110-stations including a combination of cardio machines with on board entertainment, cardio theatre and strength machines.

In addition, there will also be a huge functional training area which will provide a fantastic, flexible fitness environment and will include TRX, dumbbells, free weights and benches, ViPeRs, Cables and much more.

If customers want to extend and vary their training requirements they can easily add bolt-ons to their gym membership, with only £5.00 extra a month for studio classes and £5.00 a month for swimming or £10 if both classes and swimming is what the customer is after.

Other products such as personal training and climbing will also be available, as well as the huge range of sports activities already currently available at the Sports Centre, including badminton, squash and indoor bowling. After all that exercise there's even the opportunity to have a bite to eat and a refreshing drink in the Sports Centre's recently refurbished café, The Coffee Shop!
