ICC launches new coaching qualification
A new cricket coaching qualification scheme, which has been developed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) is to be piloted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during October.
Coaches from the ICC Global Cricket Academy - part of Dubai Sports City - will lead the two-day Level 1 course, which has been specifically designed for club and school coaches to improve the quality of local cricket provision. The course will offer an internationally recognised qualification, with participants offered the chance to learn how to teach basic cricketing skills - such as batting, bowling and fielding, as well as communication and planning.
Former New Zealand cricketer and course instructor, Dayle Hadlee, said: "The UAE has been chosen to host the first-ever ICC cricket coach education course, which will arm participants with an internationally recognised qualification. "By developing and delivering this course, the ICC aims to grow the number of coaches across the country and boost the quality of coaching to a world-class level."
The first course is scheduled to take place between 9-10 October at Al Yasmina School in Abu Dhabi, while two further courses will be held at Bradenton Prep Academy in Dubai Sports City between 16-17 and 23-24 October.
