ISPAL, the Institute for Sport, Parks and Leisure, has appointed Sue Sutton as its first chief executive.

Previously national development director for Badminton England, Sutton’s career has also included roles as regional development manager and senior development manager with England Hockey.

She will take up her new position spearheading the growth and development of the new institute from 16 July, and is currently working with the ISPAL board to recruit a senior management team.

ISPAL chair, Peter Mann, said: “I am especially pleased that we have recruited someone of Sue’s calibre.

“She brings a wealth of relevant and valuable experience together with a passion for creating a professional institute that is member driven and sets new standards in helping to deliver the Improvement Agenda.

“My Board colleagues and I look forward to working closely with her, as together, we deliver tangible benefits for our members throughout the UK.”

Sue Sutton’s first public appearance for ISPAL will be at the National Sports Development Seminar in Nottingham on 19-20 June, where keynote speakers will include chief executive of Sport England, Jennie Price, and chief executive of British Swimming, David Sparkes, as well as Peter Mann.
