The 16th National Sports Development Seminar will take place in Nottingham on 18-19 April 2007 – and will be the first held under the banner of the new Institute of Sport, Parks and Leisure (ISPAL).

ISPAL was launched earlier this year through the merger of the National Association for Sports Development (NASD) and the Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management (ILAM).

The seminar will focus on Intelligence, Innovation and Improvement: increasing understanding of what is going on in the industry, exploring new approaches and satisfying corporate agendas while meeting targets and changing lives.

It will include keynote speakers, workshops and updates from governing bodies.

NASD policy officer Val Stevenson said: “When we first put together a sports development seminar it was the only place where people could get any specific training at all.

“With the advent of the job creation scheme we call County Sports Partnerships and the growth of agencies such as the Youth Sport Trust and SportsCoach UK, which invest properly in their staff, the need now is for the latest information and the opportunity to investigate its implications.

“With this in mind we have increased the amount and scope of the update sessions and allowed more time for networking and debriefing. We have also introduced the opportunity for commercial companies to interact meaningfully with delegates so that the full flavour of the industry is available.”

The first 50 organisations to apply can take advantage of an early bird discount and secure two places for £295 + VAT each. Details: [email protected] or www.nasd.uk.com/conferences
