Intrawest acquires final stake in Canadian Mountain Holidays
Destination resort and adventure travel company Intrawest has acquired the remaining 55 per cent interest which it did not already own in Alpine Helicopters.
Alpine Helicopters is the parent company of Canadian Mountain Holidays, operator of heli-skiing and heli-hiking holidays in south-eastern British Columbia.
Intrawest bought a 45 per cent stake in Alpine in 1999, which included an option to purchase the remaining interest after five years.
The company, which began operations in 1965, now provides more than 50 per cent of all heli-skiing trips in Canada and is claimed to be the largest heli-ski operator in the world. It is expected to generate annual revenue of around $75m (£39m, 56m euros) this year.
