Japanese bar and restaurant opens in Nottingham
A £750,000 Japanese bar and restaurant called Geisha has opened in the Lace Market area of Nottingham.
Taking inspiration from 21st century Japan and designed by Macaulay Sinclair, Geisha occupies 5,500sq ft with a capacity of 500 people.
The site is split into three main areas – a cocktail lounge bar, a lower ground floor club featuring banquette seating and a dancefloor surrounded by bamboo style partitions, and a restaurant.
The restaurant menu – created by ex-Nobu chef Anthony De Sousa – includes a range of hot and cold pan-Asian dishes while the bar boasts an extensive cocktail menu and wine list as well as a selection of spirits sold by the bottle.
Proprietor Ashley Walter intends to expand the Geisha brand across UK cities and will begin looking at potential sites in the north west early next year.
“Our aim was to create a modern and luxurious Asian style lounge bar and restaurant featuring the more traditional aspects of Japan, offering high quality food, drink and service,” he said. “Nottingham is only the start for Geisha.” Details: www.geishauk.com
