Jobs created as Tees Active buck recession trend
Tees Active, a thriving leisure trust based here on Teesside, is bucking the economic trend by launching a recruitment drive, thanks to the re-opening of Billingham Forum.
Tees Active is creating 40 new jobs in Stockton-on-tees and Berwick-upon-tweed with a mix of full and part time positions at Billingham Forum, Thornaby Pavilion, Thornaby Pool, Splash, Tees Barrage International White Water Centre, The Swan Centre, Berwick and Head Office in Thornaby.
Recruitment takes place this month and next, with a range of vacancies from management positions to front of house receptionists. The mix of positions will suit people from a range of backgrounds and will provide the opportunity of developing a new career in Leisure.
Steve Chaytor, Managing Director of Tees Active, said: "There has been a lot of bleak news recently as a result the economic downturn but we are delighted to offer a positive outlook for those looking for employment in the leisure industry. The foundation of our success is down to successful partnership working with local authorities to deliver services and a focus on the importance of people to the business and we are looking for highly motivated individuals to take our company forward."
Billingham Forum is re-opening in spring this year after an £18 million investment to secure an exciting future for the much loved leisure destination. New additions to the centre include a children's play barn, dedicated spinning studio and central café area plus a major refurbishment of all other features such as pool, ice arena, sports hall and theatre.
