Kentish Town centre refurbishment to go ahead
Camden Council has given the thumbs up to a major refurbishment of the Kentish Town Sports Centre (KTSC), at an estimated cost of £14m.
The council is to proceed with an internal renovation of the Grade II-listed Victorian building, which will see the two existing main pools refurbished, with one being fitted with a movable floor to allow its use as a learner pool.
Other improvements will include the upgrade of the foyer and reception area and construction of new changing facilities and the infilling of the existing small teaching pool to create space for a new plant room.
A final decision on whether to provide new fitness facilities at KTSC has not been reached.
The refurbishment is one of three options identified by a report published in October 2005, which formed the basis of a public consultation.
