Kidsports to provide sports for schools
Watford-based sports agency Kidsports has signed a contract with Hertfordshire County Council to provide sports and PE lessons to the children of Kings Langley Primary School.
This is the first time that a county council has awarded such a contract, and the scheme will act as a pilot for possible future developments in school sport provision in the county.
The contract will run until 2009 with annual reviews.
Ian Stevens, head teacher of Kings Langley, said: “This contract paves the way for high-quality sports provision in our school. It recognises the different stakeholder challenges and responsibilities for learners, schools and their communities. We want every child to develop the sport habit as part of their lifestyle from an early age.”
Kidsports will also launch Street Soccer – a football game for 5–10-year-olds of both sexes – regionally in September. Twenty schools have already signed up.
