LIFE club exceeds target membership
The independently-operated LIFE Health and Fitness Club in Swansea has exceeded its target membership of 300 by more than a third.
The eight-week refurbishment of a 10,000sq ft (930sq m) old pharmaceutical distribution centre cost £200,000 and features a 4,500sq ft (930sq m) gym and two aerobic studios, offering a range of classes from Cardio Kick Box to Salsa Aerobics.
The site also includes a café, which is open to both members and non-members, a sunbed, a nail bar and beauty therapy suite, a hair salon and an on-site sports therapist. The club targets business professionals on the Swansea Enterprise Park where it is based.
LIFE was developed by 24-year-old Swansea resident Daniel Madge in December, following the closure of the local authority-owned leisure facility in preparation for the new £25m Swansea Leisure Centre, due to open in 2007.
Madge says: “After the local leisure centre closed, I was left with nowhere to train. After months of frustration I decided to open my own health club.”
