Leisure Industry Week (LIW) has announced a new strategic partnership with Sporta to support leisure industry operators.

The coming together of the UK’s largest leisure industry trade show and the national association of leisure and cultural trusts forms part of plans to ramp up the educational offerings at LIW 2016, which runs from 20-21 September.

LIW and Sporta are working to deliver a health educational programme that provides “genuine benefits” to all leisure industry operators. This will include seminars from experts in their field, designed to help operators increase engagement with new customers and retain them in their organisations.

Sporta will also hold its own health improvement conference day within the Health Education Stream to help its members further engage with and deliver to the public health agenda. This will feature seminars and workshops on key leisure topics such as evidence-based practice, perspectives of a commissioner and case studies from the sector.

“This partnership with Sporta highlights the importance of LIW to the leisure industry,” said UK director of LIW, Steve Orton.

“With key associations like Sporta supporting the expo and viewing it as an ideal platform to communicate with and support their members, this reinforces how important LIW is as a place for leisure industry professionals to learn, develop and future-proof their businesses.”

This year’s LIW at the NEC Birmingham will feature six tailored educational streams: Health, Play, Fitness, Spa & Wet Leisure, Facilities Management and Sport. Each educational stream will feature its own specific content and topics to support operators within those sectors and offer practical advice on how to tackle the key issues they face.
