Lambeth Council appoints GLL to manage leisure facilities
Sports trust Greenwich Leisure (GLL) has been appointed to run all the leisure centres in the London Borough of Lambeth under a new 15-year partnership.
As of 1 April, GLL is now responsible for the management of Clapham Leisure Centre, Ferndale Community Sports Centre and Flaxman Community Sports Centre.
The partnership will see £3.6m being invested in the three sites over the next year – including a major refurbishment at Brixton Leisure Centre, which will also come under GLL’s management when it reopens.
Mark Sesnan, managing director of GLL, said: “We are delighted to have been invited to work in partnership with Lambeth Council and are committed to providing first class leisure and sporting facilities to local residents.
“We believe our experience – GLL currently operates more than 65 public leisure centres across Greater London – coupled with our status as a ‘not for profit’ social enterprise means that we have both the operational skills and community focus that will enable us to successfully operate a range of facilities across the borough.”
